How to make a rose with clay dough

Children above 5 years can easily do this clay art ....try 

my cooking - Beef ulathiyathu

Beef ulathiyathu ( beef roast )....here Im using the Eastern Beef Ularthu Masala ...its there in super markets grab one .........

Ingredients
1. Beef 1kg washed and chopped
2. Turmeric powder 1/2tsp
3. Red chili powder 2tsp
4. Coriander powder 3tsp
5. 3 large onions finely sliced
6. Ginger (lemon size) finely sliced
7. Garlic 8nos. chopped
8. Green chili 8nos. sliced
9. Coriander seeds 1 tbsp washed and crushed
10.Dry red chili 6nos.
11.Turmeric powder 1tsp
12.Red chili powder 2tsp
13.Coriander powder 3tsp
14.Eastern Beef ularthu masala 3tsp (optional)
15.Pepper powder 1tsp
16.Oil 6tbsp
17.Salt to taste
18.Curry leaves 8nos.
19.Lemon juice (1 lemon)

                             Add 1- 4 ingredients in a pressure cooker mix well .......add salt ........and cook for 6-8 whistles ( no need to add any water ) ...Once your beef is ready and soft ........drain the exess water and keep the beef aside ..In a deep pan heat oil  splatter coriander seeds then dry red chili and curry leaves to it add onions and saute them till the onions become glassy appearance........ then to it add ginger garlic green chilies saute them for 1min............ then we need to add the masalas .lower the flame and add rest of the masalas to it saute it for another 2-3 mins...then add the boiled beef and mix them at a medium flame till the beef becomes dark brown in colour add salt if needed ...then add the lemon juice ...mix well and ready to serve

Kappa poottu.....Tapioca rice steam cake

Ingredients
1. Rice powder 2 cups
2. Kappa (Tapioca) Grated 2 cups
3. Coconut grated (1/2 of a coconut)
4. Sugar 1tbsp
5. Water 1 cup
6. Salt to taste

         This also very easy to make and I got this recipe from my aunt ....
         Squeeze all the juice from the kappa ( Tapioca )and put in a deep bowl.... to it add the rice powder.... mix it with your fingers ( to get the actual texture ) ..In a cup of water add necessary salt (water should stand little salty) now sprinkle water little by little and mix well ( with your fingers) Mix the powder till you find the powder gets into tiny balls (it should feel wet )...In between if you find the mix is salt enough add only plane water while you mix .............In a small bowl add coconut and sugar ..mix it well and keep aside...In a rice steamer boil water and using the top part of the rice steamer... place the filter and layer coconut first ( a thin layer is enough ) and then on top of the coconut layer the powder mix ( it should be thick ) do this procedure till it fills to the top close it and  then place it on the steamer let it cook for 5mins ..When you find the steam coming out....... your kappa poottu is ready..........

my cooking-onion carrot pakuvada

Tasty pakuvada..............

Ingredients
1. Maida 2cups full
2. 2 medium sized onion chopped
3. 4 green chilies chopped
4. 1 carrot grated
5. 1/2tsp gram masala
6. Salt to taste
7. Oil 

                   In a bowl add all the ingredients one by one and mix them gently with some water ....(the consistency of the batter should be thick)...keep the bowl aside and heat the oil in a deep frying pan or kadai and with the help of a spoon pour the maida mix spoon by spoon into the hot oil and fry till golden brown ....Have this hot pakuvada with some hot and sweet tomato sauce for snacks..

my cooking-beef fry

Beef fry................

Its a special beef fry ........... easy to make and can keep it refrigerated for 4-5 days .. reheat in a microwave and can have it with rice.....

Ingredients
1. 1kg beef cleaned, drained and chopped in small pieces
2. Coriander seeds washed and just crushed or grind it for a second(1 handful )
3. Dry red chili 15-20nos.( should remove the seed inside it )
4. Ginger 1 lemon size cut and smashed
5. Garlic  20-25nos. smashed
6. Green chilies 10nos smashed
7. Curry leaves 10nos.
8. Vinegar 3/4 of a cup
9. Turmeric powder 1tsp
10.Chili powder 2 & 1/2tsp ( if spice needed add 1/2 tsp more )
11. Salt to taste
12. Oil for frying

                    Take a deep pressure cooker to it mix beef with all the ingredients ( 2-11 ) mentioned above and cook it at high flame. After 1 whistle lower the flame and let it cook for 6-8 whistles...when done remove the lid and boil at high flame till the beef is dry and no water remains left in the cooker.( dont let the masala burn ...stir occasionally ). Then in a deep frying pan  heat oil and fry the boiled beef ( take the boiled beef little by little and fry them )till light brown. done .... You can keep it in an air tightner and keep it in your fridge...reheat in a microwave before use ...Try and let me know

Lemon juice with honey


Lemon juice with honey .....................

My husband likes this lemon juice and always asks for one glass.......... everyday...........

Ingredients
1. Juice of a lemon
2. Honey 2-3tbsp
3. 1 glass chilled soda

      Take a serving glass to it pour the ingredients 1 and 2 mix well when you find honey is really loose with the lemon juice then the honey is well mixed.... to it pour soda slowly and stir it slowly ....now your lemon juice with honey is ready.............try try 

Masala cola

Masala Cola..........

It is a refreshing and a tasty juice .... I tasted this juice when I was in Kolkatha ...I and my hus was soo excited to taste this cola ....I think it is common in north India but new to south India ...........so try it........

Ingredients
1. Chat masala 1 tsp
2. Black salt 1/2 tsp
3. Juice of half a lemon
4.Chilled Coca Cola or Pepsi 1 glass

                    Take a serving glass to it put the ingredients 1,2,3 and to it pour the cola slowly only 1/4th of the glass ( or the juice will spill out and the masala will be out of the glass ) stir slowly to let the masala and the salt mixed ....then fill the cola slowly in the glass  ........done have a nice drink

my cooking - Nadan chicken roast

Nadan chicken roast........

This chicken curry is really nice to have with chapathies and puries but most of all it is tasty to have with Vegetable biriyani or plane rice.............

Ingredients:-
1. Chicken cut into small pieces 1kg
2. Oil for frying the chicken
3. 4 large onions sliced
4. Lemon size ginger sliced (may be little bit bigger sized lemon ginger)
5. Garlic 10-15 poda chopped
6. Green chilies 8nos. chopped
7. Curry leaves 10nos.
8. Turmeric powder 1tsp
9. Chili powder 4tsp
10. Coriander powder 3tsp
11.Garam masala 1-1&1/2 tsp
12.Chicken masala 3tsp
13.Pepper powder 1/2 tsp
14.Tomatoes chopped 4nos.
15.1 cup thick cocnut milk
16. Salt to taste

                   First we will have to marinate the chicken with 1/2tsp turmeric powder, 2tsp chili powder and salt. Fry the chicken in a deep frying pan ( be careful it should not be deeply fried ). Keep aside all the fried chicken. For making the masala we need to use the same oil used for frying ( if the oil is too much take only half ) into it add 2-7 ingredients together and saute till light brown....  meanwhile in a small bowl mix all the masalas ( 8-13 ingredients ) and when the onion is light brown in colour add these masalas and mix well....to it add chopped tomatoes and mix it and close it for 5mins at low flame . After 5 mins open the top and smash the tomatoes well and if you find oil clearly ,....add the fried chicken........ mix it well at high flame for about a min or 2 then to it add thick coconut milk .........let it boil and then close the top and simmer at low flame for 5-6 mins add salt to taste. again if you see oil forming on top your chicken is ready. The gravy must be thick.Try it ............................  

My cooking - Tomato side curry for left over chapathies

Tomato side curry

This curry is also another less time consuming and at the same time tasty to have with chapathies, puris, kuboos, pathiri and also with bread .....kids will like it to have with chapathies ....specially if you have chapathies or kuboos left overs keep it in your fridge, next day you reheat it and send for snacks to school with this special tomato easy to make side curry..............

Ingredients:-
1. Tomato finely chopped 4nos.(medium size)
2. 1 medium size onion chopped
3. 1/2 lemon size ginger chopped
4. 6-8 pods of garlic chopped
5. Green chilies 3nos. chopped
6. Curry leaves 5-6nos.
7. Oil 3tbsp
8. Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
9. Chili powder 1-1&1/2tsp
10. Coriander powder 1tsp
11.Garam masala 1tsp
12.Pepper powder 1/2tsp
13.Salt to taste
          In adeep pan heat oil to it add 2-6 ingredients together and saute it well till the onions become light brown colour, then add 8-12 ingredients again mix well for 1min then add the finely chopped tomatoes mix well add salt and keep it on low flame about 3min , smash the tomatoes and add little water if necessary and simmer at low flame for 5 min and then if you find oil on top layer ...yup your side curry is done.

This curry is very easy to make and requires very less ingredients as well as time ... I use to make this curry for my children to have with their rice for lunch at school ..kids do like this curry ...........

For this curry you need yogurt which is sweet not the sour one ..

Ingredients:-
1. Yogurt 2-3 cups
2. Water 2 cups
3. 1 large onion chopped
4. 5-6 garlic chopped
5. 1/2 lemon sized ginger chopped
6. Curry leaves 6-8nos.
7. Dry red chilies 4-5nos.
8. Mustard seeds 1/2tsp
9. Turmeric powder 1/2tsp
10.Chili powder 1tsp if spice needed add 1 and 1/2tsp
11.Oil 3-4tbsp
12.Salt to taste

         In a deep pan heat oil, to it splatter mustard seeds, dry red chili and curry leaves then to it add onions,garlic,ginger, when onions start to get light brown colour put the turmeric and red chili powder saute it well at low flame for 1 min then pour yogurt, mix gently ( do not  put the flame high ) to it add water to loosen the yogurt since it is very thick, mix gently add salt when the oil turns clear on top your curry is done. Try it for your kids, its less time consuming specially in the busy mornings.

my cooking-kappa(tapioca) with beef curry

Kappa puzhingiyadu with Erachi thenga kothu

Kappa (Tapioca) cut into halves, about 2-3inches long

Erachi thenga kothu-
1. Beef 1kg cut into small pieces washed and drained
2. Thenga kothu (coconut pieces)
3. 2 large onions thinly sliced
4. Ginger sliced (lemon size)
5. Garlic chopped 5-6 pods
6. Green chillies 5-6nos. chopped
7. Turmeric powder 1/2tsp
8. Chilly powder 2tsp
9. Coriander powder 4tsp
10. Garam masala 1 and 1/2 tsp
11.Pepper powder 1/2tsp
12.Meat masala 2 tsp (optional)
13.Oil 3-4tbsp
14 Curry leaves 10nos.
15.Salt to taste
              In a pressure cooker put beef and add 1/4tsp of turmeric powder,1tsp of chilli powder,2tsp of coriander powder,1tsp of meat masala and salt. Mix it well and cook for about 6 whistles. Open the lid and layer the tapioca(kappa) on top of the half cooked beef and again cook for another 2-4 whistles. Now the tapioca as well as the beef is cooked. Remove the lid and take out the cooked tapioca and place it in a serving dish. Heat a deep pan or a kadai pour oil, when its hot enough add onions,curry leaves,green chilies and mix till the onions get light  brown in colour then add ginger and garlic then to it add the rest of the masalas left balance including the pepper powder mix it well for a minute and to it add the coconut pieces when done add the boiled beef  mix it well and keep it on low fire for 2-5min. If  you see oil on top of your curry that means your dish is ready to be served. Add salt if needed. Done

              Have tapioca with this curry it will taste good.Try it out ..............

my cooking - masala dosa

          Masala Dosa with Kandhari Chutney
             
I try out dishes in an easier way.since I'm always busy with my children ....
Here I used the dosa instant powder to make the dosa mavu ( like double horse, nirapara, vijay  etc...) .The only thing when u mix the powder in a mixie blend it well nice and smooth and the batter should be warm enough to let it raise over night.

Next morning you  will find the batter well raised it will make your dosa  very soft .

Masala

1. 4 large potatoes boiled and peeled
2. 2 large onions thinely sliced
3. 4 green chilies cut into halves
4. ginger chopped
5. mustard 1 tsp
6. dry red chilies 4 nos.
7. turmeric powder 1/4 of a tsp
8. oil
9. salt to taste
10.curry leaves

Heat oil in a pan splatter mustard, curry leaves,dry red chilies then to it add onions,green chilies,ginger when the onions get to a glassy appearance add turmeric powder mix well then add boiled potatoes and salt mash the potatoes and your masala is ready.

Chutney

1. 1/2 coconut grated
2. 2 shallots
3. small piece ginger          
4. 4 curry leaves
5. 4-5 kandhari chilies
6. salt to taste
7. mustard 1tsp
8. 4 dry red chillies

Grind ingredients 1-6 to a smooth paste. Heat oil in a pan and splatter mustard and dry red chilies when done  pour it to your chutney  Done
